"FINAL STANDINGS" ------> "RHFMSL PLAYOFF TOURNAMENT" - Oct.2nd thru Oct.4th
Hello Gentz of the RHFMSL,

Firstly, congratulations to all on having contributed to another successful and "fun" regular season of ball. This brings us now to the RHFMSL Play-Offs format which will be a Double-Knockout Tournament slated for play from Friday,Oct. 2nd thru Sunday, Oct.4th. Thusly once a team loses a second game they are eliminated from the tournament. There will be actually 2 double knockout tournaments at play simultaneously as we have created two divisions and hence 2 seperate championships....one for the "A" DIVISION and one for the "B" DIVISION. The top 8 teams with the most points from regular season play were placed into the "A" division and the bottom 8 teams comprised the "B" division. These divisions will be the official divisions for next regular season as well with teams playing within their own divisions only. Expansion is a possibility for next year thusly the divisions may be adjusted as determined by the skill calibre of the new teams(if any). The new divisions and rankings from the regular season are as follows :

"A" DIVISION
1. Snap Fitness Sluggers
2. Roadkill
3. SlamBaggers
4. GoldMembers
5. The Cubs
6. Hit N Run
7. No Frills
8. Black Hacks

"B" DIVISION
1. Wegz
2. Mudhens
3. Pigeons
4. Toe Tags
5. Spartans
6. The LongShots
7. Trojans
8. Standard Leans

A schedule of all the games for both divisions will be constructed determining where the first games are to be played on the Friday night and where the winners and losing teams move on to after each of their games. This schedule will be given to the captains and will posted here on the website in the next few for all to peruse.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL !!!

*** FORUMS ***
Hello Teams,

I hope you are all ready for the playoffs as they are just around the corner!

Anyways, this article has been created and is mainly directed to those team members who post comments on the website forums.

After reading some of the so-called "Game Discussion" posts on the forum, the executive members have agreed that this looks a lot more like harassment. The forum is a feature on the website for teams to discuss anything that happened in their games and add positive comments. It is NOT for the purpose of insulting any other teams or players in the league. As well, there should NOT be any inappropriate comments or foul language posted on the forums.

If anything is posted on the forums that the executive members do not agree should be posted, it will be removed immediately. If this continues, that team will no longer be allowed to post on the forums.

This is a FUN league, so lets keep it fun and finish the year with positive attitudes!

CONGRATULATIONS !!! ---> Marshall Lee
Congratulations!!! - Marshall Lee

Our own umpire-in-chief, Marshall Lee, was one of three umpires selected from the province to officiate at a corporate slo-pitch tournament hosted by the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre on August 24. Several members of the Blue Jays organization, including John McDonald, Scott Richmond, Nick Leyva and Dwayne Murphy to name a few, provided batting and fielding clinics to the participants. They then each captained a team and played in this three game round robin event.

Also this year, Marshall officiated at the provinicial qualifiers (fast pitch) for Squirt girls and the provincial finals for Midget girls. He has also been invited to officiate at the provincial slo-pitch finals to be held in London on the weekend of September 11-13.

Congratulations, Marshall! Great year. We're glad to have you on our team.

*** TURTLE JACK'S MUSKOKA GRILL*** - "NEW" RHFMSL SPONSOR - "Free Platter Deal"
GREAT NEWS GENTS !!!

*** ANNOUNCING OUR NEW LEAGUE SPONSOR : TURTLE JACK'S MUSKOKA GRILL

We are very pleased to have TURTLE JACK'S as our new league sponsor and new home for post-game celebration and camaraderie. They were very interested in becoming a part of the league and have kindly offered up all teams "free food platters" for every six players and/or also includes wives or accompanying adults(in that total of the required six people to receive the free platter)that visit after their games.

TURTLE JACK'S address is 11740 Yonge Street(Richmond Hill). It is located on the west side of Yonge St. and north of 19th Ave. and south of Stouffville Rd.

They will be opening their 70 person capacity open patio in the very near future(possibly in the next week or two) which will be an even greater place to go and enjoy yourselves after the games.

I have had the pleasure several times now to visit TURTLE JACK'S after my games and I can honestly say the food is great, the drinks are "ice cold" and the service is very friendly.

CHEERS ALL,

Angelo Mollo
RHFMSL DIRECTOR

*** FINAL RULE AMMENDMENT *** ( pertaining to game length and final innings)
HELLO AGAIN ALL RHFMSL CAPTAINS AND PLAYERS !!!

This notification of yet another amendment to the "GAME LENGTH" Rule shall be the promised final one.

The "no new inning after 100 minutes" rule is still in effect, however, whether it be the eighth(8th)inning or final inning as called by the umpire due to time restriction, any home team that is leading after the away team has had its final at-bats, the umpire shall then call the game.

Thusly, no longer will a leading home team get their last at-bats.

We believe that the added 10 minutes to the new "no new inning after 100 minutes" rule in itself lends to the fact that most games should get their full 8 innings in now. We still encourage all teams to help get the full games in by hustling in and out between innings.

ENJOY THE REST OF THE SEASON GUYS !!!

From Your Executive,

Angelo Mollo

RHFMSL >>>>> HAS GROWN TO 16 TEAMS !!!!! 2009 SEASON JUST SIX(6) WEEKS AWAY !!!!!
The RHFMSL Executive is very pleased and excited to announce that the league has doubled in size to a total of 16 teams !!!

The 2009 RHFMSL Regular Season Schedule has just been finalized and will be posted on the website hopefully within the next 7-10 days.

This year each team will play every team in the league once thusly working perfectly with the 15 Fridays available for regular season play. MAY 22nd is the starting date for regular season play. League Executives and Glen Pohlamus(our permanent resident umpire)will be monitoring gameplay of all the teams in the league so as to gauge the skill level of all the teams in order to create two divisions for the purposes of balancing teams and evening the playing field for all teams. Therefore, at some point during the regular season we will be splitting the league into 2 divisions("A" and "B"). The original schedule will still be played out. The 2 divisions then will have their own seperate CHAMPIONS as determined in two seperate DOUBLE KNOCK-OUT PLAYOFF TOURNAMENTS(played simultaneously) to be played on the last weekend in September.

The RHFMSL "RULES" will be re-posted on the league website forum within the next few weeks for all to peruse at their own convenience.

Here are the 16 teams that comprise the RHFMSL :

BLACK HACKS
CUBS
GOLD MEMBERS

LONGSHOTS
MUDHENS
NO FRILLS
PIGEONS
ROADKILL
SLAMBAGGERS

WEBSITE FUNCTIONS AND BENEFITS
Obviously if you are reading this you have searched our website ( rhfmsl.teamopolis.com ) as a potential player or a registered member of the RICHMOND HILL FRIDAYNITE MEN'S SLO-PITCH LEAGUE.

The first and foremost benefit of having a website is having the ability to communicate with the whole of its membership/participants. By way of news articles the executive may convey league news, issues and happenings. The website will allow for the set-up of teams and their rosters, standings, game scores, team & player statistics, league and team schedules, game reminders thru email and a forum by which members/players may communicate with the league, teammates and any players in the league.

The executive will also be able to send out mass email so that it may communicate quickly and directly with all players and team captains.

The home page will only have a few current news articles on display at any one time. Thusly, to view old news articles just scroll down to the last news article/post on display and on the right-hand bottom you will see View Old News...underlined. Just click on it and all the old news articles will be displayed, scroll down til you locate the previously posted article you wanted to view again. Another way to view all posted news articles is to click on News on the left-side menu and then click on "Show All News Articles" at top right corner of the displayed news article.

More instructions will come as we get nearer to the start of the season and when teams have been finalized.

IF ANYONE HAS ANY QUESTIONS AT ALL ABOUT THE LEAGUE, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL ME ( LEAGUE DIRECTOR : - ANGELO MOLLO ) AT 905 773 4073 OR EMAIL ME mo ... @hotmail.com.

FOR ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE WEBSITE PLEASE CONTACT OUR WEBSITE ADMINISTRATOR MARLENE SYKES AT sy ... @yahoo.ca.
